Story:
As some of you lovely readers (are there 2 of you?!! 3 maybe?) may know I finally landed myself a job in downtown San Diego. For those of you who didn't, sorry. And now you do. It's a pretty cool job at a pretty cool place. My one complaint is that I am charged with the ever annoying task of finding parking downtown. (yes, I know buses and trains exist but they also take two hours, each way!) Parking downtown by itself would not be such a big deal, there is a close lot where I can park my pretty little car for a mere $4 charge. The problem is the Padres. When they decide to play games early in the afternoon my $4 parking space turns into a $40 spot and that just will not stand!
So yesterday, when the Padres decided to play an early game I decided that I was going to find free street parking somewhere downtown and walk. I left the house early and arrived downtown with 30 minutes to find a spot, walk, and get myself to work. Now, the night before I had done a little online research and I found some places with an abundance of free street parking, so when I got off the 5 I headed in that direction. I drove around until I found a spot and was thrilled knowing I had 15 minutes to get to work. I arrived at work 45 minutes later. That's right boys and girls I inadvertently parked almost 3 miles away. Since I was in middle school I have acknowledged that my worst subject is geography and I get lost all the time, but 3 miles?!?! The worst of it wasn't the distance, it was my wardrobe. Business casual: slacks, a dress shirt, long sweater, super heavy purse, and (worst of all!) dress shoes. Oh man.
But now I need to tell you why yesterday was such a great day. I got to walk through miles and miles of the city. It reminded me of last summer in SF, it reminded me why I wanted to work downtown, and it reminded me why I started this blog. I love the city because it is beautifully disgusting. Everyone is so different and so interesting and never mundane. Thanks to my little worst decision of the day I have found a gaggle of new ideas floating around in my head and I am getting very excited to share them. So while I begin constructing away, enjoy this pick I took on my too long walk. Buildings like this make me think of old horror movies and make me dizzy just looking up at them. Such a lugvely site and check out that blue california sky! :)

And that's why you are so cool. Yay for a job! Yay for walks!

3 Miles though? Seriously? Still! Yay for walks!

I love your blog! I'm sorry you had to walk 3 miles...in nice clothes. And I'm sorry Tyler and I probably stole some of your parking on Thursday afternoon when we went to the Padre game. (Ah, but perhaps not? It was around 6pm...)

P.S. I saw your momma today! :)

I thing ugly things are lovely and in my head I see myself as a little bit of a gangster, but it seems that no one else is on board with this perception.
